What I Do

My name is Margo Strong and I live in Humboldt County in Northern CA.  I began designing jewelry seven years ago, but have only begun to sell it since November of 2007.  I began making jewelry because I would often visit our local bead shops here in Eureka and admire the many beautiful beads.  Once when I was visiting a local bookstore I spotted some beaded bookmarks, called "book thongs" made with string and beads. Immediately I thought, "I could make those," providing me with a purpose to purchase many of the beautiful beads I loved.

After visiting the bead shop often, the owner finally convinced me that I should try my hand at creating jewelry.  She was more than happy to teach me many basic techniques and from there I continued to teach myself.  I soon discovered that I have a love for designing jewelry.  I would wear my creations and often people would ask if I would be interested in making something for them.  Often I would hear the comment that I should sell my jewelry.  Finally,  in November of 2007  a friend offered to host an open house jewelry show at her home and after doing home parties for some time I decided to open a kiosk at our local mall.  I recently ventured into the world of  some local craft fairs.

I am passionate about my jewerly making. For me it is a great stress reliever and allows me time to dive  into my own little world of creation , helping me to forget about the many stresses we so often encounter in life.

When I began making jewelry I was basically stringing beads and gemstones, since then I have added a various amount of mixed media forms of jewelry making, including wire work, resin, polymer clay, precious metal clay (PMC),  copper and bronze clay, metal smithing, and my latest adventure, fused glass.   The pages following contain pictures of some of my jewelry for sale.  If you have any specific need or interest please contact me for that one of a kind special piece.
